And budgeting backpackers are in luck: UK airline bmibaby is offering cash-strapped travellers discounted flights for selected routes.

Heck, even if you think heading for the snow (when it’s already freezing outside) is a rather daft notion and prefer to head where the sun still shines, you can take advantage of the special.

From now until midnight Tuesday (11 Nov ’08) get up to 1/3 off all bmibaby flights to the airline’s Mediterranean winter sun and ski destinations.

That’s a fair whack, so get to it!

Snowbombing 2009: 7 days of musical misbehaviour and snow-capped adventures

October 17th, 2008 by Pia Taylor

Snowbombing: it is, as the name might have hinted at, a winter event and it’ll be taking place next year for the 10th time in an idyllic Austrian village in the valley of Mayrhofen.

SnowbombingThose who get their ski kit in gear can look forward to seven days of “musical misbehaviour and snow-capped adventures” from Sunday 29th March right the way through to Sunday 4th April 2009.

If you’re wondering why you should think about going, you probably haven’t been yet but here’s a taster of what you can expect at Snowbombing 2009:

The frosty fiesta is like no other on the planet and you can look forward to 3 iconic igloo parties at the top of the mountains in the middle of night with 300 like minded ravers, a fancy dress street party hosted by The Cuban Brothers, the hidden forest clearing which last year played host to an event defining set from Madness, or the back country party in the forgotten valley that can be found through a wild forest, past the waterfall and across the snowfields where a 200 year old wooden farmstead plays host to a traditional and unforgettable night of Austrian food, drink and games.

So, if fun-filled frostiness sounds like your cup of hot-buttered rum, then etch it into your diary – March really truly ain’t that far away.
