Description
The hostel in Dawson City is located high above the banks of the Yukon River overlooking Dawson City. We have a collection of log cabins most of them directly overlooking the Yukon River. The rooms in the dorm cabins are larger than in most hostels with only either 5 or 6 beds and every guest has their private locker. There are eight private rooms/cabins for either one or two people or families. No charge for children if occupying the same room as the parents and some of the rooms are large enough not only for a couple but also up to 3 smaller kids.
The hostel is not connected to the power grid in Dawson City but enough 'light' is provided by 24 daylight most of May until mid August - otherwise guest will receive candles for their rooms. The hostel provides free firewood for the fire pit/ grill and there is an outdoor roofed kitchen as well as drinking water - which are brought in from Dawson City. A large sun deck overlooking the river would be the eating area. Washing facilities consist of a simple roofed cabin with piped in creek water from above the hostel. The heart of the hostel is the heated bath house modeled after what there used to be during the gold rush times.
For rainy and cool days there is a large heated common cabin with a large library and games. The hostel also offers a wood fired sauna and large tenting areas for either individuals or groups. The hostel is facing the river on one side but is otherwise surrounded by deep Northern forest and visiting wildlife is common.
Rent bicycles and canoes, the latter for either by the day or longer trip to either Alaska (Eagle or Circle) or for two week trips from Whitehorse back to Dawson City.
We also organize passenger van trips to the Klondike Gold Fields or up the Dempster Highway.
Due to the location of the hostel no credit cards can be accepted.
