British Airways April Sale

If you’re in the UK and looking to hop over the Atlantic and explore the US of A and surrounds, the latest offering from British Airways might just get you there.

From now until 29 April the airline is offering discounted seats on various flights to and from North America, starting from £299 rtn (London-New York), including taxes.

There is one catch, though – to qualify for the discount, you must be resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland and aged 18 or older.

Virgin Blue Flight Clearance Sale: 33% Off Australian Routes

Australia-based budget airline, Virgin Blue, is currently having a ‘flight clearance sale‘. Between now and midnight (local time) 15 April, backpackers can find fares at up to 33% off their usual price.

Fly from Brisbane to Melbourne for $99 AUD, or Perth to Sydney for $149 AUD. Offer applies to selected one way flights, includes taxes and fees (though you’re likely to pay a $3 credit card surcharge), and is valid for travel between Thursday 01st May 2008 and Thursday 26th June 2008.

Discounts on international flights are also available (travel period: Tuesday 22nd July 2008 to Thursday 18th September 2008).

Heathrow Terminal 5 Meltdown, And A British Airways Sale

Last week Heathrow’s Terminal 5 opened amid great fanfare, only to crash and burn (erm, so to speak). Chaos ensued not long after the terminal began operations, resulting in hundreds of flights being cancelled, and ever so many bags wandering off into the great void.

A PR nightmare that is, so what better way to distract the public than have a big ol’ flight sale. Via the LA Times Daily Travel & Deal Blog comes news of BA’s ‘April Fare Sale‘:

“It’s no surprise that British Airways would put on a sweet little spring sale to distract us from the meltdown that’s going on at London Heathrow’s new Terminal 5… I tested their sale and found fares departing from Los Angeles (LAX) as low as $227 each way (April 9-16). That came to $624 round trip after taxes…”

Always good news for budgeting backpackers! The sale is on until April 10, and is valid for travel between April 8 and May 25, 2008.
