I used to love Creamfields when it was a one day event, as a group of friends we used to arrive at about 5pm in the afternoon in fancy dress, mooch around until the last two acts on the main stage come on and the whole mood of the festival changes (I heard rumors that’s the point when lots of people start taking ecstasy.) to dance away till silly o’clock in the morning. Even better the new site is walking distance from my house! (Well, an hour walk – which is nothing after dancing for 12 hours)
But, I really can’t see how it will capture the same mood with camping, and everyone on a come down from the night before. As an epic night out, it worked amazingly, but as a more regular festival I really think it’s going to have it’s work cut out to keep the same vibe for the whole two days. People don’t go to a dance event to soak up the atmosphere and mix with fellow campers, they go to dance in more fixed circles of friends. Or at least that’s how it’s always looked to me.
Still, good luck to anyone who does go, hopefully I’m wrong and it’ll be an Awesome event but I suspect the mentality of people reading a blog like this might be a bit disapointed and would be better hitting somewhere like the Glade festival for their dancing needs.
