June 18th, 2007 by Pia Taylor

Tickets for the White Mountain Folk Festival went on sale today.

White Mountain Folk Festival 2006

The South African festival made its debut last year: three days of great music in an idyllic setting, over the Heritage Day long weekend (this year from 21 to 24 September) in the scenic Central Drakensberg region of KwaZulu-Natal.

Featuring acoustic performances by some of the country’s finest established and up-and-coming artists, the festival is held at White Mountain Lodge in the foothills of the Giant’s Castle Nature Reserve, just 200km from Durban and 430km from Johannesburg on tarred roads.

Already confirmed for what promises to be an awesome line-up are acts like Dan Patlansky, Farryl Purkiss, Southern Gypsey Queen, Sitter, Roly Struckmeyer and Baz Corden.

Prices range from R100 (about 10 Euros) for a non-camping ‘day-tripper’ to R350 (35 Euros) if you buy a full pass (includes camping) at the gate.

The best deal for backpackers keen for the whole shebang is the R250 ticket available at Game stores in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
