Apple-Picking In New Zealand: Instant Jobs For Backpackers

Apple-picking

One way many backpackers make money during their travels is by working on farms, picking fruit.

It can be hard work, but means you spend your time outdoors instead of slaving away indoors at the kind of desk job you probably left behind to go travelling in the first place.

If you’re in New Zealand (or nearby) and have been thinking about visiting a region called Central Otago then this news might be of interest to you:

200 extra workers needed by next week:
Central Otago orchardists and vineyard owners would need a further 200 workers by the end of next week when a bumper apple crop harvest would be ready for picking (Southland Times)

Instant jobs, basically, and as Central Otago sounds like an interesting place, it could turn out to be a good spot to spend some apple-picking time.
