Roskilde Festival 2007: Volunteering Can Get You In For Free
UPDATE: Win tickets to Roskilde 2007!
Organisers of Denmark’s hugely popular weekend rock music festival, Roskilde Festival, have already announced two big names for the 2007 band lineup: the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Iceland’s Björk.
And those are just the start of what is likely to be an incredible selection of local and international bands.
Roskilde is still quite a way away (early July), but if you’re on a shoestring budget (and can’t afford the ticket) you might want to get in to the festival’s 2007 Work Camp – and you’ll need to apply for that before 1 April 2007.
So, what is Work Camp, and why on earth would you want to join something that sounds so terribly militant?
‘Work Camp is a combination of volunteer work, cultural contact and a feeling of community. As a volunteer at Work Camp you are working for Roskilde Festival for approx. 100 hours during approx. 12 days. You will meet people from other European countries while working in various areas at the festival.’ (link)
What it boils down to is that in exchange for your volunteering services at the festival, you get a free ticket (normally US$255) and you get fed three meals a day for the duration. Sweet!
Oh, and fear not, there will be (some) free time for enjoying the festival and it’s a great opportunity to meet a whole bunch of new people.
To qualify for Work Camp 2007 you need to be over the age of 18 and living in an EU country (including Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland).
Take a look here for additional details and to submit your application (only 60 volunteers are selected).
