TravelHiker.com - Social Networking For Backpackers That Brings Home The Bacon

Travel Hiker - new social networking site

Via one of my favourite travel blogs, Darrel Cronian’s Travel Rants, I heard about a cool new social networking site for travellers called Travel Hiker.com.

There are quite a few of the same sort of sites already on the scene. So far we’ve mentioned Tripmates, Gusto, Match&Go and even MySpace.

What’s unusual about TravelHiker, though, is that members have the potential to earn money from their pages (always bound to warm the cockles of any backpacker’s heart):

Members can create detailed city guides, insert their Google AdSense ID in their profile and earn when people visiting their page click on the adverts displayed there. Payments to contributing city guide members come directly from Google. (Travel Rants)

Great concept! Plus, the site has a fresh, funky look (barring a few very minor design blips in my Safari browser), is easy to navigate and signing up is a breeze. Go and check it out.
