Munich Oktoberfest: The Final Tally

Pork Knuckles at Oktoberfest

6.5 million – according to CNN, that’s how many people stopped in at the Oktoberfest in Munich this year.

Between them, those brave souls managed to put away around 6.1 million litres of beer, devour 560,000 pork knuckles and 360,000 sausages (and more besides) and spend in the region of 955 million euros.

More interesting, perhaps, is the breakdown of lost property items found during the previous year’s festival.

This telling list includes over 250 pairs of glasses, 200 mobile phones, some unlucky sod’s wedding ring, and a pair of crutches.

Who needs crutches when you’ve got millions of litres of Bavaria’s finest brews to give you strength, eh?
