Cooling Man: How Burning Man Contributes To Global Warming

Cooling Man

Found a rather interesting blog today called Real Science Blogs, which has some rather strong views about the global warming ostensibly caused by the Burning Man Festival:

‘For 21 years this ecological disaster has been using gas-powered generators, up to 37,000 of them, so that smelly hippies can gorge themselves on wasteful fossil-fuel consumption’.

Apparently, a bunch of scientists in San Francisco have created an online calculator called ‘Cooling Man’, which can work out ‘how many tons of greenhouse gases each of the 37,000 “burners” will produce with their art projects and community camps’.

If you’re a ‘burner’ with a wish to be ecologically friendly, work out your estimated greenhouse gas emissions here and see what you can do to offset them next time around.
