Tripmates is a cool new social networking website that we’re really enjoying. We’ve been signed up for a week, and already we’re chatting with cool people from around the world who are keen to travel.
It’s lots of fun, very easy to use, and best of all, it’s free.
You create a profile, and then you search the site for people who you’d like to bump into on your travels – or you just wait to be found (as we did).
You can also do stuff like create a trip journal, interact on their forums, upload your photos and write restaurant reviews.

Hi, I’m 29 years old, from England and currently doing volunteer teaching English is NongKhai, Thailand. I am also teaching English in Mae Hong Son (nr Thai-Burma border) from 1st November until 28th November and then travelling around Vietnam for 3 weeks until 20th December.

Hi my name is Pippa and I am currently studying for a master in interpreting in England. I am very interested in traveling around Australasia from the start of autumn 2009 until xmas or january 2010. I will be using the summer to earn money for this. Traveling to Thailand from 29th of March to the 8th of april. Have my flight to bangkok booked. Have plans of going to Ko Samui and Ko Panang. No dates except for arrival in bangkok are confirmed. Hope to meet n hang with some interesting people.
