Australia’s BedBug Plague
A couple of weeks back we wrote about the increase in bedbug activity in the US, and people have been talking about the little blood-sucking critters in our travel forums.
Seems the US isn’t the only country suffering from bedbug infestations, though – apparently Australia is also under attack by a ‘new breed of super-resilient bugs, which can cause severe allergic reactions in some who are bitten’.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, bedbug infestations have increased by 5000 per cent since 2000, with the backpacking industry the worst affected.

5000 per cent! That sounds like a lot of additional bugs creeping and crawling around. I was surprised to find that there’s a Bedbug Blog for anyone who’s interested (or in need of emotional support).
