Portrait of a Food Fight: Photos from Il Tomatina
Il Tomatina (we wrote about it here) is coming up very soon.
On the 30th of August, around 20,000 travellers will be descending upon the small Spanish town of “Bunyol”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buñol, near Valencia, to help spread the tomato-love.
Hurling handful after handful of the squishy red fruits at anything that moves is pretty much the whole object of the festival, with the post-battle tomato-swill-wallowing coming a close second.

I particularly like this shot of the Tomatina aftermath.
