As backpackers, in the noble pursuit of stretching one’s budget to its ultimate limits (as one must), we are often compelled to make compromises on our choice of hostel.

Sometimes, though, choosing the cheapest hostel can up your chances of making new friends of a six-legged and thirsty kind.

According to USAToday, bedbugs in the US are making a comeback in a big way: ‘entomologists and pest control professionals are reporting a dramatic increase in infestations throughout the country, and no one knows exactly why.’
