Travel Buddies online

Hooking up with interesting people is a big part of the adventure of backpacking.
At Backpackers.com we’re all for using technology to help us travel better, so how about using the net to hook up with travel buddies?
There are lots of social networking sites online. We particularly like WAYN and Tripmates. Both allow you to track where your friends are, keep a log of your travels and let you meet up with others on the network if you want.

Tripmates is awesome! I just found the site and I love it. Also looked at WAYN, but not as user-friendly. I have waiting for a site that lets you find people to travel with. I also plan on using Tripmates to seek advice from their trip gurus- great idea.

Tripmates is like MySpace for travellers.

Interesting – I went to both – WAYN.com is far more comprehensive and a just has a LOT MORE to it. I found Tripmates.com very confusing and they also spammed all my contacts!!

I am the CEO of Tripmates and want to let everyone know that we do not spam anyone. I’m not sure if Alexandra works for WAYN or just enjoys spreading false information, but we take spamming seriously and have a policy against it. Hope everyone enjoys the site!
