Tsunami Devastates The Solomon Islands

Doesn’t that image look tranquil… Two kids paddling about on a dugout in the balmy waters of the Solomon Islands.
The picture was taken some time ago, but who’s to say there weren’t kids like these ones playing and having fun today when a giant wave devastated the island’s western coastline.
According to The World Today, a massive earthquake in the Pacific Ocean struck at ‘around 6:40AM about 350 kilometres north west of the Solomon Islands’ capital Honiara’.
Not long thereafter, the resulting tsunami struck the western side of the Solomon Islands, sweeping away villages and sucking them out to sea.
Travellers visiting the region are being warned to exercise a high degree of caution.
